Life can be sooo bittersweet …I LOVED having my

Life can be sooo bittersweet …I LOVED having my youngest in 🇦🇺for his semester (joining his other 3 brothers but still missing one 💔)….
but saying goodbye this morning at the airport was soooooo hard 😭
I recently heard @joyful_courage refer to empty nesting as being a Free Bird - I like that spin. I love the freedom that comes from being more of a witness to their lives than the person responsible for their lives, yet …any other moms out there feeling that heart ache too- you’ve raised these amazing humans, and now it’s our job to step back and let them launch- even when our hearts may want to “sMother” 🤦🏼‍♀️
Sharing this for all the mamas out there- free birds, still full time moming and all the in between. Big love to us all and to our amazing humans.
And to my sons, May your wings be strong and your chest feel pride. You’re the bestest. Journey on.

This post made me think of it because it speaks of expectations AND because I wasn’t wearing my glasses and my midlife eyes thought these were turkeys (which is my fave Xmas dinner) 🤣⁣
Seriously though, if you follow me, you’re probably a kind-hearted person and probably have some feelings of disappointment or frustration at how others in your family are acting (eg an expectation hangover 😵)⁣
So even though your brain may say “Nah, this year will be different. These holidays my family will somehow act in ways they never have before”, please humor me by filling out your bingo sheet.⁣

This is a hard truth to swallow.
There are people who aren’t able to be honest about what they’ve done (with you or with others) that they’d rather let you go than be brave.
Don’t do this alone.
I’ve been there (as I describe on this week’s podcast).
One of my favorite mantras when dealing with this with my biological family and old friends “I let people be wrong about me”.
Let people misunderstand you.
The person who matters most in your life is the one looking back in the mirror.
I love💙 you warrior.
Yes it’s hard.
Yet this sort of hard is what I speak of as PRODUCTIVE DISCOMFORT.
This sort of hard moves you forward.
You’ve got this warrior.
