Are You Blocking Your Dreams Without Realizing It?

Warriors, every single day, with every thought and word, we’re either arguing for our dreams or against them. It’s a simple yet profound concept that can completely transform how we approach our goals. Often, we unknowingly build a case for why something isn’t possible instead of finding reasons to make it happen. In this episode of the Love Your Life Show, I teach on how we can use these mindset shifts for success. I give you actual ways to make the mindset shift in your life.

Take a moment to reflect on a dream or goal you’ve set aside. Why isn’t it happening? Are you telling yourself it’s too late, too hard, or not realistic? These are the dream-stealing thoughts keeping you stuck. But here’s the good news: you have the power to flip the script. Instead of focusing on why something won’t work, ask yourself, “How can it work?” This mindset shift can open the door to new opportunities and actions that align with the life you want to create.

Mindset Shifts for Success: Stop quitting

On the podcast I share some real life examples that show how, with the same situation, one person will fight for her limitations and another will fight for her success. I love sharing these examples because it shows how a simple mindset shift is what leads to success. It’s usually easier to spot in someone else, which is why I shared so many examples in today’s episode. Listen here and then ask yourself, where am I doing this in my own life? Am I arguing for my success or am I arguing to stay stuck and for why it won’t work?

Whether it’s a health target, a career ambition, or even something as simple as decluttering a room, our thoughts set the tone. Are you looking for reasons to succeed, or are you sabotaging yourself with excuses and doubts?

Small Shifts That Make a Big Impact

When we argue for our dreams, we focus on solutions and actions that move us forward. For example, my son wanted a job over winter break but was told by friends and family that it was too late—no positions were left. Instead of accepting that, he argued for his goal. He applied anyway, got creative, and ended up earning $800 in just a few weeks.

Further, when we’re arguing for our limitations and for why something won’t work, we’re going to find evidence around us to prove that true. The way we present our situation to the people around us, matters greatly. I find that when I present my situation, the people around me will agree me: whether it’s positive or negative.

Like I may say, I am so excited to get healthier this year. There’s so much research out there for midlife women and health and I can’t wait to have my best year yet. My friends would totally jump on in a supportive way. They may send me podcasts of new health trends for midlife women and Instagram posts of thriving women.

The reverse is also true. If I say, I started the year with health goals but wasn’t seeing any progress. I guess I’m not meant to be healthy. In an effort to be supportive, they’d probably say things like “well you know what happens to our metabolism after age 40”. Or they may say “it’s not your fault, our bodies don’t bounce back like they used to.”

Our brains and our environments literally look for ways to support whichever way we’re thinking about it. So pay attention to how you’re thinking about it!

This Week’s Challenge: Flip the Script

This week, I challenge you to notice your inner dialogue. I challenge you to make a mindset shift for success. Are you building a case for your dreams, or are you letting fear and doubt take the wheel? If you catch yourself arguing against your dreams, stop and ask:

  1. Is this thought true?
  2. Is it kind?
  3. Who would I be without this thought?
  4. What’s a more empowering thought I could choose?

Your thoughts have the power to shape your reality. When you argue for your dreams, you open the door to possibility and progress. When you argue against them, you create roadblocks that don’t need to be there.

If this message resonates with you, share it with someone who needs to hear it. Together, let’s make this the year we fight for the lives we truly want. You’ve got this, Warriors!
