I have wanted to have this star on the show for years, more than a decade to be honest! She was instrumental in helping me establish boundaries in my relationships, with my biological family and my ex husband.
Because of her work, I feel free and strong in my relationships. She has helped me remove so much drama from my life and I am beyond thrilled to bring her knowledge, message, and expertise to you in this episode. She continues to help me learn more about high functioning codependency so that I can support myself and my clients in midlife and beyond.

Today we have author and small business owner, Christen Bensten on the show.
While many of us have not experienced the level of childhood trauma or debilitating anxiety that Christen has experienced, we all have had childhood experiences that mark us. As a result of this, this interview is one you don’t want to miss.
This past year, Christen published her memoir, Starving.
In it she shares her difficult, yet hopeful story of growing up in a constant state of fear, managing her anxiety and depression on her own, and what it took to find love and healing.
Listen in as we discuss her journey with the intent to bring you hope and model what is possible with resiliency. Thank you Christen for sharing your story.

How much drama do you bring into your conversations?
Oh warriors, I have brought a LOT of drama into my conversations over the years.
Whether it’s been in my delivery (jumping in too fast anyone?!) or beating around the bush or being defensive or being overly bossy (I know, hard to believe!)….
Help is here!
Michelle Icard is on the show today to help us have drama free conversations, whether it’s with our middle school aged child or our partner.
Listen in and then let us know what you learned or what helps you have less drama in your relationships.

Have you been told you’re too much?
You laugh too loud?
Talk too much?
Are too direct?
Or is it just me?
Lol because I know it’s not.
From very young ages, women are taught to play small, to be small, and to not rock the boat.
I was praised when I did what others wanted me to do over what I wanted to do.
I was threatened or punished if I spoke up for myself or my needs.
How does this show up in our lives as young women and beyond?
We learn to hide our true selves and abandon our desires and wants.
This leads us to feeling bitter and resentful.
Even more worrisome, we can feel like no one knows the real us.
No more.
Join me on the show this week as Kim Strobel and I discuss it all. Patriarchy, people pleasing, confidence, and our role as women crafting a new vision of what being a woman looks like, and even more importantly, feels like.
